American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has updated its investment plan. Now the company plans to invest $ 12 billion in its own development in just two next years. The funds will go to new models and the construction of a battery production plant.
Tesla CFO Zachary Kirkhorn said at the conference following the publication of its financial report for Q3 2020 that the company will increase its planned capital investments in its own development. In 2021 and 2022, the vehicle manufacture will invest $ 6 billion each instead of the originally planned $ 4.5 billion. This decision is associated with a positive financial result for the 3rd quarter of 2020 – turnover and net profit were significantly higher than planned.
Investments will be directed to increasing the production of the Model Y crossover, building new factories on three continents, developing new types of batteries, expanding the model line and other projects.
According to the plan, in 2022 Tesla will have the capacity to produce 2 million vehicles per year. Recall that according to the results of 2020, the company plans to produce 500 thousand cars per year for the first time in its history. Rg.ru. Photo: Tesla Press Office.
